Most memorable military experience: I spent some time sneaking around in Thailand and directing air strikes on North Vietnam, using aircraft from the Ticonderoga, but there is no record of anything I did because it was between 1962 and 1964.

I was in the Strike force that was involved in the Dominican Republic fracas, but I was attached to the OAS Organization of American State.  My most frightening experience was working in the main command control center for the Cuban Strike operation, and being one of very few at the time to know that we were on Defense Condition 2, meaning that war was eminent, and we would be the first target, should Cuba attempt to retaliate.
