Branch and dates of service: Air Force, September 1967 – December 1997

Highest rank: Colonel

Most memorable military Experience: After graduating from the University Washington, Seattle, 1967 commissioned at OTS (Lackland AFB), stationed in CA, WA, IL, OH, AL, DE, HI, Taiwan, Philippines, UK, Turkey, Italy, and Germany. My three years in Ankara, TU, was during DS and the follow-on stuff with the Kurds in Iraq/Turkey. Walking the deserted streets of Iraqi cities and helping change the haunting, UNMISTAKABLE look of death in a thousand starving children’s eyes in the Iraqi-Kurdish refugee camps to one of mischievous, tag-playing, giggling children were highlights of my career. But every assignment was fun all because of the people – they were dedicated to doing their job right, taking care of their family and loving America.
